Climate Change Hysteria Keeps Getting Worse

But the Causes of Potential Global Warming still Remain Uncertain…

By Scott Rohter, September 2012, Updated December 2014

“Climate change hysteria is changing the way we look at our world,

but the causes of potential global warming if it even exists are still uncertain and proven.”   – Scott Rohter

Science writer Michael Lemonick in his new book entitled “Global Weirdness” compares climate change to lung cancer. He claims that the political brainwashing we are subjected to by journalists in the media and the browbeating we are receiving from a small but vociferous group of politicians and political activists in the scientific community is actually for our own good. It is just like the Surgeon General’s warning on the back of a package of cigarettes. Mr. Lemonick suggests that we all better pay attention to the proponents of anthropogenic global warming aka so called climate change before it is too late.

Pseudo scientists like Mr. Lemonick are hell-bent on trying to get the whole world to go along with some kind of a cap and trade system to limit carbon  dioxide emissions. Selling carbon credits will no doubt make many climate alarmists rich, but it will not change a single thing about the earth’s actual climate. There is no genuine scientific consensus about whether there really is, or is not an increase in average global temperature. There is much that still remains to be known.

Even if there is a slight, but noticeable increase in the annual average temperature of the earth there is absolutely no scientific evidence that it is caused by human activity. The truth is that there is a lot of stuff that scientists don’t know yet. They don’t know whether the curious phenomena  they are witnessing is the result of human activity or if it is the result of solar activity.

There is no consensus about whether or not the phenomena that scientists are witnessing is anthropogenic or whether it is the result of something much bigger we have no control over.  The Sun which powers our solar system doesn’t have a thermostat, but the progressive  environmental movement is in such a mad rush to convince everyone of the idea of man-made global warming and that we can actually do something about it that they are all giving up any pretense of scientific objectivity. There is no doubt that many of them are trying to cash in on their investments in companies which sell carbon credits. Perhaps that is why they are trying so hard to sell us on the idea of global warming so that they can line their own pockets with green!

This is what anyone with common sense knows: There is a world-wide political effort going on to force the developed nations of the world to subsidize the developing nations of the world through transfer of wealth payments which are derived from carbon taxes and carbon trading schemes. This is far more apparent than any conclusions about whether the earth is actually warming or not, and if so what is really causing it. The Indonesian volcano Krakatoa spewed  more carbon into the Earth’s atmosphere in a single momentous event than all of the cars that have ever rolled off the assembly lines of Henry Ford and Karl Benz combined! That puts things in perspective, but the greenies don’t like to acknowledge that inconvenient fact.

Mr. Lemonick states in his new book that it took a long time for the Surgeon General’s Warning about the health hazards of cigarette smoking  to sink into the public consciousness. It would be reasonable to assume he writes that it will also take a while for the risks related to global warming to be taken seriously too.  That is a pretty crazy comparison. This far fetched analogy in his book Global Weirdness is like mixing apples and oranges.

The Surgeon General’s Warning on a package of cigarettes was referring to the health hazards associated with directly inhaling cigarette smoke which is laced with tar and nicotine, and other carcinogenic chemicals into our lungs. It wasn’t referring to inhaling carbon dioxide from the earth’s atmosphere or putting additional carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. The earth’s atmosphere doesn’t behave like a healthy pair of human lungs. The earth’s atmosphere actually likes carbon dioxide.  Our lungs  produce carbon dioxide. Plants love carbon dioxide. They make oxygen from carbon dioxide, and the atmosphere absorbs the remainder of it. Without carbon dioxide there wouldn’t be any oxygen for humans and animals to breathe.

Global warming or whatever else the politicians prefer to call it at the moment is not caused by the amount of heavy metals, tar, and nicotine in the earth’s atmosphere. That is not the main concern of climate scientists. They are concerned about carbon, but it is the other carcinogens that are mixed in with the carbon dioxide that we inhale in cigarette smoke that actually causes lung cancer. Mr. Lemonick’s analogy is ridiculous.

Mr. Lemonick’s book is an artfully constructed, but rather thinly disguised attempt to mislead the public. It is a web that is spun by a died in the wool Socialist whose purpose is not to educate or inform anyone about the risks of climate change It is to confound and confuse the public into accepting some kind of a world wide carbon trading scheme.. The only thing man made about global warming or climate change are all of the ridiculous attempts to explain it.

We know for a fact that many of today’s climate monitoring stations were once recording data from the middle of a green hayfield, but they are now collecting their data from the middle of an asphalt parking lot. We know that temperature recordings on Mars show a marked increase over the last ten or twenty years which mirrors the so called “human effect” we are experiencing here on earth.

Mr. Lemonick is not a neutral arbiter of the truth. He is not an authority on the subject of climate change and his editor’s pen is no instrument of impartiality. All I can say is that his latest book “Global Weirdness” belongs somewhere in the Science Fiction section of the library.
