Real Campaign Finance Reform You Can Believe In

-by Scott Rohter, October 2011

Barack Obama has raised 148 million dollars!  Mitt Romney has raised 32 million dollars!  Rick Perry has raised 17 million dollars!  These financial figures are only through the third quarter of this year.  All of this money has been collected to aid in the re-election campaign of Barack Obama, and in the campaigns of the two top fundraisers in the Republican Primary.  It has been raised by their supporters to promote their candidacies over those of their competitors in the race for the WhiteHouse.  This big money doesn’t come without big strings attached!  And I can tell you this. A lot of big money is banking right now on President Obama, and either Mitt Romney, or Rick Perry being the two finalists in the general election next year!

President Obama doesn’t even need to raise any money right now, because there is no Democratic Primary!  However he is already raising money anyway, even though he is essentially running unopposed!  Most of the money that all of the candidates raise, including the President, will be spent to broadcast their campaign messages over the airwaves, and it will eventually wind up in the hands of the liberal progressives who control, and work in the national media, including the hundreds of millions of dollars that will be raised by Republicans. Our elections have become a vast transfer of money from millions of Americans, through their candidates, to the national liberal media!

Every so often, our country has a national conversation about campaign finance reform, and nothing ever really seems to change anything in Washington, and get the corrupting influence of money out of politics.  Nothing seems to be as important as money during an election campaign, not even a candidate’s political ideas!  Political Action Committees, Campaign Bundlers, Unions, and corporate donation limits not withstanding, nothing dries up the source of this corruption!  This year and this election, if you really want to send a strong message to Washington, a powerful signal that can’t be ignored, then don’t vote for the candidate who has raised the most money!  In fact don’t vote for any of the top fundraisers, Obama, Romney, or Perry!  That will literally send shockwaves through The Establishment of both political Parties.  That will be real grass roots campaign finance reform for the first time in our nation’s history, real campaign finance reform that you can believe in!
