One Hundred Years from Teddy Roosevelt to Barack Obama

Is America becoming the world’s biggest bully? Can the United States just simply bomb other countries into becoming democracies? That’s what we have been trying to do in the Middle East in Iraq and Afghanistan for the past thirteen years. For over a decade we have been trying to bomb the Middle East into democracy, but it hasn’t worked out very well. It didn’t work too well in Libya and it certainly didn’t work out very well in Iraq. Hopefully Afghanistan will turn out to be another story, but now we are starting to bomb Syria and Iraq all over again. It is Shock and Awe revisited. My only question is this… Are we really convincing Muslims in the Middle East and around the world to love democracy or to hate the democracy that enables us to do this to them?
