A Twisted Tutorial

  -by Scott Rohter, December 2011
In a review of his 1971 book, Rules for Radicals, the Chicago Sun Times claims that activist and author Saul Alinsky was very influential in developing the impressionable young minds of both Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton.  Alinsky dedicated his well-known primer on fomenting rebellion, and Marxist revolution to none other than Lucifer!  That’s correct, Lucifer!  And if that doesn’t sound strange enough, Alinsky goes on to praise the devil for being the world’s first truly successful radical who’s revolutionary ideas successfully challenged the established order.  Then while admitting that he doesn’t actually know whether the Biblical story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden is really true or not, but claiming at the same time that it doesn’t really matter, Alinsky writes in the preface to his little red book, that Lucifer was so effective at being a radical community organizer, that he was rewarded with his own personal kingdom on earth!  By this he infers that all of his readers should aspire to be successful little radicals just like Lucifer.  That’s quite a spin job, even for a first class disseminator like Alinsky!

While apparently Mr. Alinsky didn’t read to the conclusion of the story to see how it ends, and to discover what ultimately happens to his hero, he obviously didn’t understand those few words of the Bible that he actually did read. If he did, then he would have certainly known that Lucifer wasn’t rewarded for anything, more-less his rebellion.  Rather, the Bible teaches that he was cast out of heaven!  That wasn’t a reward by any stretch of the imagination, and it was never intended to be construed as a reward!  Furthermore it says that his name was no longer Lucifer, after he disobeyed God.   His name was changed to Satan, which means ‘adversary’.  We don’t know exactly how or when his name was changed.  We don't know whether it was God who changed his name, or Lucifer who decided henceworth that he wanted to be known as God’s adversary.   But in any case, his change of residency, and his new name and title were by no means to be considered a promotion, or a ‘reward’ for stirring up a rebellion!   You would need to have a very twisted little mind in order to read that into the Biblical story.   And it was just such a twisted mind that wrote the little book, Rules for Radicals, which Barack Obama studied as a young man, and which he still follows to this day!

From the very first pages of this twisted tutorial, Saul Alinsky describes himself as a rather lucky little Marxist who somehow managed to escape the McCarthy era hearings, and other attempts to identify known Communist subversives in America.  This is the same Saul Alinsky whose book, Rules for Radicals, President Obama studied.   This is the same Saul Alinsky who mentored Bill Ayers, who was Barack Obama’s personal friend and mentor!   “Alinsky’s teaching has influenced thousands of young community and labor organizers including Barack Obama…  and Hillary Clinton… ,”   says the Chicago Sun Times.
