Ding Dong, Taepo Dong, and So Long Kim Jong-Il
Enslaving a Significant Part of Humanity
-by Scott Rohter, December 2011

Do you remember the song from the Wizard of Oz? “Ding Dong! The Witch is dead. Which old Witch? The Wicked Witch. Ding Dong the wicked” Kim Jong-Il is dead! He is finally more than just ill. He is actually dead… really dead!  Kim Jung-Mentally Ill, is finally physically dead. And with his welcome demise comes the ascension of his youngest son, Kim Jong-Un! Thus we go from the dead, to the ‘Un’ dead, to the land of the living dead. This is North Korea, a country of about twenty million poverty stricken, and half starving people! But just to let us know that unlike his dear departed father, Kim Jong-Un is very much alive and well, and now a force to be reckoned with, the new leader of North Korea’s Communist dictatorship fired off a couple of North Korean Long Dong ballistic missiles this week into the South China Sea, about 70 miles off the coast of North Korea. This was probably to be expected, just like the morning Sun rises over the Sea of Japan. But millions of Japanese and South Korean citizens will be discussing Jong-Il and Jong-Un over their morning coffee today, and they will be debating over every little move, and every little hint of a move in this secretive Communist country’s dictatorship for a long time to come.

In the West, there has been a constant barrage of almost non-stop news coverage about the little dictator’s death. Kim Jong-Il measured no more than 5’3” tall, but he had a significant and lasting presence that far exceeded his tiny physical stature. Every word that proceeded from out of his pretentious mouth, literally sent shock waves of anxiety throughout south-east Asia. That power to scare people in the region will live on with his twenty-something year old son, who has never held an actual job before in his life, but now assumes a position of power and absolute authority in government. This ability to alarm the nations of Southeast Asia is caused primarily by North Korea’s large military and nuclear capabilities. But in the end, God did what the CIA, the Navy Seals, and the entire U.S. Government could not do over the last 30 years, i.e. pull the plug on this authoritarian tyrant. The Bible says that the breath of all mankind is in God’s hands. So goodbye and so-long Mr. Il. There will be no more Long Dong missiles for you, I am happy to say.

Another man died last week, and his death did not go un-noticed in the news either. This was the prominent British atheist, Christopher Hitchens. Imagine that, an atheist named Christopher! He was just as bad as Kim Jung-Il, but in a different way. Hitchens was a devout atheist, and an intellectual who despised anything that had to do with God, and religion. But at least he was consistent though, and he condemned both the Bible and the Koran, and any other religious book that teaches that our Universe had a beginning, and it has a Divine Creator.

Receiving less attention in the news last week, was the death of the great Czechoslovakian playwright, and the former president of the Czech Republic, Vaclav Havel. He was actually a good man. There are occasionally a few. He was a strong supporter of freedom, and European sovereignty which is probably why his country, the Czech Republic, was the last country in Europe to acquiesce to the EU! He was a formidable opponent of all forms of oppression, and tyranny, like those favored by the little North Korean dictator, Kim Jong-Il, and why he also resisted ideas like those espoused by Christopher Hitchens, which are Enslaving a Significant Part of Humanity!
