What is Left of Our Great American Heartland

Like so many Americans today our Federal Government is overweight. As a matter of fact if we are going to draw anatomical analogies then that is actually an understatement. To put it bluntly our Federal Government is bloated and morbidly obese. If we are going to save our country then we have to do something fast. We need to put our Federal Government on an immediate diet, before the whole Nation winds up on life support. There is no time to waste. We have to restrict our Federal Government's consumption of the Gross National Product, and we must encourage Washington to lose weight before it is too late. We must convince our Federal Government to slim down, to reduce what it consumes... and to exercise a little old fashioned self-restraint. If we don't then it will probably require superhuman efforts to revive what is left of our ailing economy.
Our Federal Government needs to reduce the level of calories it consumes. It must drastically cut back on its consumption of the American economy if our country is going to survive. All of those excess pounds that the Federal Government has been carrying around for so long have been putting undue stress on our country's vital organs, especially on what we fondly refer to as the heartland of America.
Our once great industrial heartland is in critical condition. It is lying flat on its back in the intensive care unit. The heart of our country can not take anymore national abuse and neglect. This largely unappreciated and undervalued part of our economy is ready for some critical life-saving resuscitation. If it actually comes down to having to use the national defibrillator to revive the nearly comotose patient again, then there probably won't be enough juice in a Quantitive Easing or in another Stimulus Package to revive What Is Left Of Our Great American Heartland!
