It's Time for a Legislative Moratorium and "A New Birth of Freedom"

Instead of making new laws, Congress should concentrate on repealing bad, unwise, and unnecessary laws. What a great idea!  Instead of being our legislative body, they could become the unlegislative branch of government.  I like the sound of that. Think of it. Instead of every member of Congress earning their stripes by writing or co-sponsoring endless freedom sucking legislation in order to make a name for themselves on Capitol Hill or to ingratiate themselves with the K Street lobbyists, they could all pull up chairs in the Congressional Library every session and search the records for bad laws that they could remove from the books and from off of our backs!  If this idea ever caught on, it could even spread to state legislatures across the nation and our country could experience “a new birth of freedom”.

For over 234 years the Congress has been passing laws.  We have more laws in the United States of America than we have freedoms.  We have more laws on the books than we have libraries to contain them all.  Freedom in America is literally under siege!  Congress doesn’t need to pass any more laws as much as it needs to repeal bad old laws, and we should start right now with “Obama Care” which I call Obama’s Scare.

There is nothing in our Constitution that requires Congress to pass any new laws, or any laws at all in fact!  It just says that if any laws are ever passed, that it is the Congress that has to pass them. But we have way too many laws and too many of them are unnecessary or unwise. So why is everybody in such a hurry to pass more laws? I’d like to see the Congress start heading in a new direction.  Our elected representatives should take a pledge not to pass any more laws for a period of time.  Let’s have a moratorium on legislation, and let’s begin to repeal unnecessary and unwise laws, and they can start right now with HR 3590, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
