He is not a Natural Born Citizen because he was not born in the U.S.A. and he is not eligible to be the President. The Democrats did it for Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012 and the Republicans are trying to do the same thing right now for Ted Cruz in 2016. They are trying to establish a legal precedent that circumvents the Constitution and that is what attorneys always rely on whenever they try to do something that the Constitution prohibits them from doing.. It is called Stare decisis.

The Constitution declares in Article 2 Section 1 that you have to be a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN of the United States in order to be the President of the United States. President Obama isn’t a Natural Born Citizen regardless of where he was born because his father was not an American citizen. Ted Cruz is not a Natural Born Citizen either. He was born in Canada and his father was both a Cuban and a Canadian at the time that Senator Cruz was born, but his father was not an American. Ted Cruz does not even offer up a phony birth certificate to claim that he was born in America like Barack Obama did. Why do you think Barack Obama furnished that Hawaiin Certificate of Live Birth if it doesn’t actually matter where the President of the United States was born?

Ted Cruz freely admits that he was born in Calgary Alberta. That makes him even less qualified to be President than Barack Obama is. Where will all of this legal precedent to just ignore the Constitution actually end? This type of progressive incrementalism is going to destroy our country. James Madison warned us about this. He wrote that “More freedom has been lost as a result of progressive incrementalism than has been lost in catastrophic upheavals such as violence or war.” Ted Cruz represents the next step in this progressive incrementalism. What is lost in all of this hope and change is the United States Constitution.

Ted Cruz was not born in the United States. He was born in Alberta, Canada and his mother and father were both legal residents of Canada at the time he was born. In fact his parents may have both been citizens of Canada at the time he was born too as evidence has surfaced that their names appear on a list of eligible voters in Calgary around the same time that Senator Cruz was born, nevertheless Ted Cruz is still running for the Office of President of the United States. The more I listen to him the less I believe anything that he says especially the part about how much he loves and defends the United States Constitution. How can he love and defend the United States Constitution when his very candidacy for the Office of President is an affront to the Constitution?

I am beginning to think that Ted Cruz doesn’t actually believe anything he says either. At one of the Presidential Debates he was asked a direct question about his eligibility to be President. He looked right into the camera and deliberately mis-stated the facts regarding Natural Birth Citizenship. He lied to an entire nation when he implied that it makes a difference where Donald Trump’s mother was born.

Just for the record it does not matter where a candidate’s mother was born. It does not matter where Donald Trump’s mother was born and it does not matter where Ted Cruz’s mother was born. What matters is not where their mother was born, but where they were born, and it matters whether or not their mother AND THEIR FATHER were both citizens at the time they were born. While it may be true that Ted Cruz’s mother was a citizen of the United States, it is just as true that his father was not a citizen of the United States when Senator Cruz was born. Therefore Ted Cruz is not eligible to be the President of the United States.

Donald Trump’s parents were both citizens at the time he was born and he was born in New York City. Ted Cruz was born in Canada and while he claims to support the Constitution, he is completely disregarding the Natural Born Citizen Clause in Article 2 Section 1. So is everyone else who is supporting Ted Cruz in his bid to become the next President. It is a sad day in America when a Natural Born Citizen is deemed to be an outsider in his own country and two people who are not Natural Born Citizens are both deemed to be eligible to run for the Office of the President.

The Constitution says that you have to be a Natural Born Citizen in order to be the President of the United States. That means that you have to be born in the United States and your parents both have to be citizens of the United States… not one, but both. It does not matter where they were born, but it does matter whether they were citizens or not.

In Section 3 of the Naturalization Act of 1795 written less than ten years after the United States Constitution was adopted the guiding phrase used in the law was “the children of citizens…” The word is plural not singular as some people would like to believe. It seems to me like common sense that they chose to use the plural form of the word. This is the type of common sense that characterized our Nation’s Founding and it still makes perfect sense in the dangerous world we live in today.

While it is true that there is no definition listed in the Constitution for what it actually means to be a Natural Born Citizen, there is also no definition given in the Constitution for a lot of other things. For instance we all know what the definition of is… is, and this is in spite of whatever Bill Clinton’s said during his impeachment hearings. The definition of is… is not given in the Constitution. There are a lot of other words that are not defined in the Constitution including the definition of Justice, the definition of Domestic Tranquility, the definition of the Common Defense, the General Welfare, or the Blessings of Liberty, but the Founding Fathers knew what all of those things meant and they knew what a Natural Born Citizen was too.

The most commonly accepted definition of a Natural Born Citizen is found in Chapter 19 Section 212 – 215 of The Law of Nations by Emerich de Vattel. The Founding Founders were very familiar with this literary treatise because they often quoted from it in addition to using it as a reference. If you are a Natural Born Citizen it means that you were born in America to American parents. (Note the word parents is in the plural form). I did not say born to one American parent because the Founding Fathers and our Nations early laws and legal decisions all used the plural form of the word citizens following a precedent set by Vattel. They all had the kind of wisdom and common sense that is entirely lacking from politics and government today. (Note: Born in America is understood to mean born on American soil anywhere in the world such as an American embassy or an oversees possession or a territory like Arizona used to be when Barry Goldwater was born there.)

The constitutional requirement to be a Natural Born Citizen in order to be the President and Commander in Chief is probably the single most important qualification listed in the Constitution to run for any office in America, but it is reserved only for the highest office in the land. This requirement was established in Article 2 Section 1 in order to keep our government from ever being led by someone with mixed or dual loyalties whose allegiance might be conflicted or pledged to another set of principles which are not contained in the Constitution. This requirement for the Office of President was established before the United States was even established and it was even hinted at in a letter that John Jay wrote to General George Washington on July 25, 1787 before the Constitution was completed. Furthermore the requirement for the President of the United States to be a Natural Born Citizen is just as important today as it was in 1787 when the Constitution was ratified. It is a common sense measure that is there to help ensure that America remains safe, now and in the future, and no single person running for the Office of President is more important than that.

From left to right to left: Queen Rania, Prince Hamzah and his bride, King Abdullah, and Queen Noor aka Lisa Hallaby formerly of Washington D.C.

Of course Canada does not pose a threat to the United States and hopefully it never will, but it is still a foreign country and Ted Cruz is still a candidate for the Office of President who was born in another country. He was born in Calgary, Alberta and he spent the first four years of his life in Canada as a Natural Born Canadian citizen before his parents decided to get divorced and move back to the United States. You can only be a Natural Born Citizen of one country in your lifetime just like you can only be born in one country in your lifetime. She is the American born daughter of a Syrian-American father and a Swedish-American mother.. She married King Hussein of Jordan in June 1978 and together they raised four children… all Muslims… and all born in Jordan. Would you feel the same way if Prince Hamsah was running for President instead of Ted Cruz? If not then by what legal means could you prevent him from running after you have opened the door for Barack Obama to become President and then opened it even wider for Ted Cruz to become President?

The campaign of Ted Cruz to become the Republican nominee for President in 2016 represents the continuation of a very dangerous trend and a very serious threat to America’s long term national security interests not just in the next election but in every subsequent election hereafter. This is not about Ted Cruz. It is not even about Barack Obama, but just like the junior Senator from Illinois who became America’s 44th President contrary to the clear intent of the Constitution and in spite of the fact that his father was not an American citizen, Ted Cruz shares this dubious distinction with Barack Obama… Neither of their fathers were American citizens at the time they were born therefore neither one of them is eligible to be the President of the United States. The Democrats and the Republicans do not seem to mind the fact that they are ignoring the Constitution and the Original Intent of the Founding Fathers.

Government leaders know that if they keep repeating the same old lie over and over again that the majority of people will begin to believe it. The American media wasn’t the first to figure this out… The lie they keep repeating is that Barack Obama, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio are all eligible to be our President. Even when the media doesn’t say it in so many words, by just not challenging their qualifications to be President the media is actually giving credence to the idea that they can be President when in fact they cannot.

The Fox Business Channel finally asked a question about the eligibility of Ted Cruz in the January 14th debate in South Carolina, but Ted Cruz made jokes about it and obfuscated while Donald Trump failed to hit the ball out of the park when he had the opportunity. The issue is not whether Ted’s mother was born in America or Donald Trump’s mother was not. The issue is whether the candidates themselves were born in America and whether there parents were both American citizens at the time they were born. Both of Donald Trump’s parents were American citizens and he was born in the U.S.A. One of Ted Cruz parents was not an American citizen and Ted Cruz was born in Canada. Donald Trump meets all three criteria to be a Natural Born Citizen, but Ted Cruz fails on two of the three counts and it is not a laughing matter.. When he is doing something wrong I guess Ted Cruz just tries to make people laugh.

While the definition of what it means to be a Natural Born Citizen has been hotly debated from time to time over the last two hundred years thanks to the United States Supreme Court the actual meaning has been watered down so much by progressive incrementalism that it means just about anything that anyone wants it to mean. This is a grave mistake to make in an age of international terrorism. According to some current legal opinions any one of the four Jordanian children of Queen Noor could go on to become an America President if they wanted to run, but that is not what a Natural Born Citizen is. In the strictest definition of the term and the one which affords our nation the greatest safety and security in the future, a Natural Born Citizen is someone who was born in the United States and has two American parents..

At least Barack Obama offered proof that he was born in America. While some people have questioned the validity of his proof, at least he offered something to show that he was born in the U.S.A. Ted Cruz however offers no proof. In fact he freely admits that he was born in Canada. That fact alone should immediately disqualify him from consideration in the 2016 Presidential primary no matter how much you like his positions on the issues. The Natural Born Citizen Clause was not just written for Ted Cruz by the way. It applies to the children of Queen Noor or to anyone else who was born in a foreign country, or has only one American parent, who aspires to be the President of the United States. The fact that Eleanor Cruz waited until her son was four years old to move back to the United States and Raphael Cruz waited another thirty-five years until he became an American citizen plus the fact that Ted Cruz did not renounce his Canadian birthright citizenship until just last year when he was 44 years old when he decided to run for President disqualifies him as a serious candidate for the White House. However it does completely validate the legitimate concerns that the Founding Fathers had when they included the Natural Born Citizen Clause in the Constitution.

Republicans and Democrats are jeopardizing America’s national security. As usual the Democrats are leading the way, but Republicans aren’t too far behind. The Democrats nominated Barack Obama in 2008 knowing full well that his campaign would stretch the limits of the Natural Born Citizen Clause, but with two terms now firmly under his belt and somewhat of a legal precedent having already been established the Republicans are considering two more ineligible candidates for President at this time. They are Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz. On this point there is not much difference between the two major political Parties. Both Rubio and Cruz are just as ineligible to be our next President as Barack Obama is eligible to be our current President. Now if the obvious fact that Barack Obama is the President seems to preclude all further discussion on the subject as a fete accompli, let me remind you that just because something is, doesn’t mean that it’s right. You remember what Bill Clinton said don’t you? “It all depends on what the definition of is… is.” Neither political Party is following the Constitution and neither political Party feels any compunction about compromising America’s long term national security interests in order to win the White House. Voting for either Marco Rubio or Ted Cruz would merely validate the last eight unlawful years of Barack Obama, and that’s exactly what they want you to do.

If you like this article then please share it and support a candidate for President whose election would not compromise the United States Constitution.

Further Reading

https://lessgovisthebestgov.com/blog/is-ted-cruz-the-republican-partys-answer-to-barack-obama.html

https://lessgovisthebestgov.com/blog/full-disclosure-the-consequences-of-continuing-to-support-ted-cruz-for-president.html

https://lessgovisthebestgov.com/blog/ted-cruz-decides-to-run-for-president-two-constitutional-wrongs-dont-make-the-texas-senators-presidential-aspirations-right.html

Corroborating Source Material

http://www.constitution.org/vattel/vattel_01.htm

https://www.congress.gov/bill/110th-congress/senate-resolution/511/text

http://www.fourwinds10.net/siterun_data/government/us_constitution/news.php?q=1308252582

http://www.indiana.edu/~kdhist/H105-documents-web/week08/naturalization1790.html

He says all the right things the junior Senator from Texas does, but he wasn’t born in the United States.
