If\u00a0some\u00a0Republicans\u00a0used half\u00a0of their brain\u00a0we might actually be a political force to contend with… even without a charismatic leader like Donald Trump leading the way, but sadly as recent Tea Party loses in three important Republican State Primaries in 2014 showed… there is no danger of that ever happening. In fact in every State except Texas, the Establishment backed candidates\u00a0won their Primaries\u00a0handily to the delight and satisfaction of the progressives who control the Republican Party… What more proof can I give you then all of those Nevertrumpers who refused to vote for Donald Trump in 2016 . Such were the Bush Family, John McCain, Lindsay Graham, and Mitt Romney.<\/span><\/p>\n

What promised to be a real turkey shoot back in 2014 in Kentucky\u00a0actually turned out to be just another “turkey walk” for\u00a0Senator Mitch McConnell.\u00a0 The Senate\u00a0Republican Leader\u00a0who is a\u00a0thirty year long veteran of Washington insider politics easily won\u00a0his\u00a0Primary against\u00a0Republican challenger and political newcomer Matt Bevin who\u00a0was supported by the Tea Party.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The fact that McConnell had\u00a0such a massive political war chest\u00a0worth well over a million dollars to\u00a0spend on radio and television commercials\u00a0trashing his\u00a0opponent\u00a0and lying about his own\u00a0political record made it impossible for an outsider to win.\u00a0\u00a0That was not true with Donald Trump\u00a0in 2016 because he had plenty of his own money to spend, but Mitch McConnell’s political\u00a0slush fund led Kentucky voters to return this lying politician to Washington\u00a0for the sixth straight time. He will\u00a0still be there\u00a0when\u00a0Donald Trump finishes his first term in office.\u00a0 Mitch McConnell won’t be up for re-election again until 2020. In the meantime he\u00a0will try\u00a0to block just about everything that\u00a0President Trump\u00a0wants to do to make America great again.\u00a0That’s why I’m\u00a0still singing the Republican Blues even though Donald Trump won the White House and the Republicans hung on to both the House and the Senate…\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For only the second time since 1929 Republicans\u00a0control all three branches of government<\/a>, but Mitch McConnell, the aging Senator from Kentucky still stands in the way, and he casts a long political shadow over anything that Donald Trump\u00a0wants to do. As for Matt Bevin he\u00a0actually went on to become the Governor of Kentucky, and in a strange twist of irony,\u00a0if anything\u00a0should happen\u00a0to Mitch McConnell during the next four years,\u00a0it will be Matt Bevin\u00a0who appoints\u00a0his replacement to fill the vacancy in Congress.<\/span><\/p>\n

McConnell has made his intentions well known. He\u00a0does not support Trump’s plan for Congressional term limits. He\u00a0recently said that, “We already have term limits in the United States.. They are called elections and they happen every two years.” <\/em>Mitch McConnell will not support Donald Trump’s plan to renegotiate\u00a0or\u00a0withdraw from\u00a0NAFTA and the World Trade Organization. He opposes the construction of a wall on our southern border with Mexico to stop the flood of illegal aliens into our country. He has even said that he is open to the idea of letting\u00a0Democrats\u00a0filibuster the President’s Supreme Court nominees. He will try to obstruct Donald Trump at every step of the way, and that is why Mitch McConnell will be the most powerful man in Washington for the next four years. Whatever Donald Trump wants to do he has to get Mitch McConnell’s permission first.<\/span><\/p>\n

For anything to really change in Washington\u00a0besides just the faces of those occupying the seats in Congress,\u00a0the mind of voters actually has to change. Otherwise it is just like playing a game of musical chairs. This is going to require some very powerful re-education… at least as much education as the daily barrage of progressive propaganda coming from the mainstream media, but with both our schools and the corporate media firmly in the hands of\u00a0liberal Democrats\u00a0what are the chances of that ever happening? <\/span><\/p>\n

Yet this is the challenge that we face. In order for the victory of traditional values over ungodly\u00a0socialist ideology to have any\u00a0real meaning, then the\u00a0minds of millions of Americans will have to change. Just replacing\u00a0one Democrat in the White House with a Republican will do nothing to change America for the better or help to make America great again. \u00a0Donald Trump has won an amazing victory. It is true. He defeated the entire political establishment\u00a0and both\u00a0political parties, but in order for his victory to have any meaning… and in order for him to\u00a0make America Great Again he has to figure out a way to get\u00a0beyond\u00a0Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The control of\u00a0Congress and the White House is entirely in Republican hands\u00a0for the next two years.\u00a0but no substantive steps to undo\u00a0any of the political damage\u00a0that Barack Obama\u00a0has done\u00a0to our country in the past eight years can be under taken without the\u00a0cooperation of Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan and\u00a0I seriously doubt that many Republicans\u00a0currently in Congress really\u00a0want to undo what Barack Obama has\u00a0done to our country\u00a0in the past eight years. They are part of the problem. They just want to swim in the swamp. They want their turn at the public feeding trough.<\/span><\/p>\n

If\u00a0Donald Trump\u00a0is going to\u00a0make America great again then he will have to quickly figure out a way\u00a0to get around Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan. He only has\u00a0two years of this mandate to accomplish the majority of his plans because in 2018 it is\u00a0probable\u00a0that Democrats will regain control of\u00a0either the House or the Senate..\u00a0The prospects for making America great again get a lot tougher then, and\u00a0the clock starts ticking on January 20th.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
