<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\nFirst Lady or Worst Lady ?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n A Comparison of America\u2019s Most Recent First Ladies<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n By Scott Rohter, September 2012<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It is\u00a0customary\u00a0for the wives of American Presidents\u00a0to become involved with some very worthy National cause during their years at the White House and in the public spotlight. They usually become\u00a0a tireless advocate for some worthwhile endeavor while their husband\u00a0is busy managing the more complicated affairs of State. In the case of Bill and Hillary Clinton, Bill was managing his more complicated personal affairs in the Oval Office while Hillary was busy promoting Nationalized Health Care and raising their daughter Chelsea.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n While Bill was cavorting around the White House looking for\u00a0a young, star struck intern to impress, Hillary\u00a0was busy raising\u00a0their daughter\u00a0and calling attention to her special cause which was\u00a0National Health Care. Every evening when her work was done she waited back at the White House for\u00a0our Nation\u2019s \u201cfirst Black President\u201d to come home after a long, hard day at the Oval Office. What she didn\u2019t\u00a0realize was just how long\u00a0and hard his affairs\u00a0at the Oval office really were!\u00a0 Hillary remained focused on her\u00a0two\u00a0causes… raising their\u00a0daughter and promoting her vision of National Health Care, while Bill remained at the “Oval Orifice”\u00a0late at night concentrating on being the very lost cause\u00a0he\u00a0was, and still is!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Our next First Lady was Laura Bush. While many people didn\u2019t like her husband very much, no one ever seemed to have a bad word to say about Laura. She epitomized grace and Southern hospitality. She made a\u00a0fine First Lady and \u201cambassador at large\u201d for her husband and for our country. Her special cause was “reading literacy”. That was\u00a0the perfect cause for this former librarian from Texas. There is not much else to say about her time spent in the public spotlight. Her years together in the White House with George Bush were marked\u00a0by no\u00a0public scandals such as highlighted the Clinton years.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n President Jimmy Carter\u2019s wife was Rosalynn. Her\u00a0full name was Eleanor Rosalynn Smith Carter. She was another\u00a0example of Southern charm and hospitality that graced\u00a0our Nation\u2019s highest office, and she really did grace the Nation\u2019s highest office too because Jimmy Carter frequently had her\u00a0at his side during his most important public meetings with key policy advisors. I never\u00a0cared very much for the anti-Semitic Jimmy Carter from Georgia, but I never had an unkind word to say about his wife Rosalynn. Most Americans felt the\u00a0same way that I did regardless of their political affiliation. Her special\u00a0cause during her\u00a0tenure at the White House was\u00a0in the field of mental health research. That is what she advocated tirelessly for\u00a0during\u00a0the time she spent in\u00a0the public spotlight. She was also the President\u2019s special envoy to Latin America,\u00a0and she assisted him in helping find new homes for Cambodian and Laotian refugee children.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Nancy Reagan was the\u00a0dearly beloved second wife of our Nation’s\u00a0highly admired 40th President, Ronald Reagan.\u00a0<\/span> She will always be remembered for her special cause which was\u00a0discouraging the use of illegal recreational drugs. Her\u00a0worthwhile efforts\u00a0will always be immortalized in the famous words, \u201cJust Say No\u201d (to drugs)!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Michele Obama\u2019s favorite cause is obesity, not that she is overweight herself. She just wants to end obesity in America and she<\/span> isn\u2019t kidding! She has already managed to get fast food restaurants to limit the size of their meals and to list the caloric intake of\u00a0every item on their menus. She talks about Seven-Eleven Stores as if they\u00a0are some kind of\u00a0an inner city food desert. That’s desert, not dessert<\/span>. She is always worrying about how many Big Macs\u00a0someone else is putting in their mouths. Isn’t that their own business?\u00a0 She is concerned that we are using too much salt and sugar on our food. With all due respect Mrs. Obama, “That is our own damned business, not yours!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n We are all such bad little boys and girls! Now look how much food we are putting on our plates. Do we really need that second helping? Ask Michelle. What does Michelle say? She will tell us. Mama Obama knows what is best for us. You can\u2019t have that 32 ounce Pepsi\u00a0with 16 grams of sugar\u00a0anymore,\u2026 or that Pizza\u00a0loaded down with empty calories! It isn’t good for you! Mama Obama knows what\u2019s best. There is an epidemic of obesity in America and\u00a0Michelle is going to wipe it out single-handedly if she has to.\u00a0It is her special cause. Pay no attention to what she does<\/span> or what she<\/span> is eating.\u00a0Just mind your own peas and cues if you know what I mean.. literally.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Of course she can still have\u00a0that 32 ounce Big Slurpee at the local Seven-Eleven fast food desert. She can still scarf down an entire 16 piece bucket of the Colonel\u2019s Kentucky Fried Chicken if she wants to, but as for the rest of us\u2026 God help us if we do! The National Caloric Police will\u00a0be at our front door with their caloric\u00a0counters\u00a0ready to check,\u00a0or we may have the Sugar and Spice Police\u00a0sent\u00a0to our homes to\u00a0monitor us while we\u00a0prepare dinner. Don\u2019t even think of\u00a0eating that large bag of French fries\u00a0you bought at \u00a0McDonalds. It is totally out of the question! <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n In France Marie Antoinette\u00a0once said, “Let them eat cake!” In America Michelle Obama now says that we can’t have\u00a0cake because it is too high in empty calories and it is loaded down with unnecessarily high levels of sugar. That\u2019s the kind of stuff that they sell in those fast food convenience deserts. We can\u00a0have bread,\u00a0but it is bread without<\/span> sugar in it\u2026 un-leavened bread like Matzoh, \u201cthe bread of our current affliction\u201d.\u00a0 Just as long as it\u2019s not that pasty white bread which is loaded\u00a0with sugar. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Michelle\u2019s\u00a0new slogan\u00a0is, \u201cNo more pasty white bread<\/span> for pasty white people<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0As soon as she is done single-handedly polishing off her next bucket of “finger-lickin, lip-smackin good”\u00a0Kentucky fried chicken she is going to go back outside and pose for a picture in the White House garden right next to the organic snap peas.\u00a0Furthermore… Michelle has never felt better or been more proud of her country in her entire life!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n If you liked this article please let me know by clicking the LIKE Button at the top or bottom of this page.
