\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span>Any\u00a0Congressional Vote on the Authorization to Use Force in Syria <\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

is really a Vote on the Legitimacy of our Own Elected Government in Washington… <\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Perhaps We Need to\u00a0Change Our Own Government, Not the Government of Syria !<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere are things that we know, and there are things that we don\u2019t know. Then there are the things that we don\u2019t even know that we don\u2019t know. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Those things are the hardest.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i>\u2013 Donald Rumsfeld Secretary of Defense under George W. Bush during the Iraq War<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

We have to take our country back one vote at a time… The first vote is going to be the hardest one to make and the first opportunity will come\u00a0if and when\u00a0Congress actually votes on the authorization to use force in Syria. It\u00a0will really be a vote on the legitimacy of our own elected government in Washington D.C.\u00a0Many k<\/span>ey Congressional leaders\u00a0in both political Parties\u00a0have already come out in favor of authorizing President Obama’s proposed air attacks\u00a0on Syria even before\u00a0a vote has been taken or the debate has even begun. Congress\u00a0 scheduled a vote for sometime in mid-September\u00a0of 2013 on\u00a0a Bill to \u00a0authorize the use of force\u00a0in Syria\u00a0because of\u00a0the alleged use of chemical weapons\u00a0on civilians by the Syrian government of Bashar al Assad. Then Congress postponed that vote at the President’s request because t<\/span><\/span><\/span>he\u00a0American people are overwhelmingly\u00a0opposed to\u00a0any type of\u00a0military action\u00a0in\u00a0Syria even\u00a0if chemical weapons were used, and even if it\u00a0turns out to be true that they were used by the\u00a0Syrian government, but of course that still hasn’t even been proven yet.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Nevertheless Bashar al Assad is not the one who is desperate right now and he certainly wouldn’t have invited\u00a0chemical weapons inspectors from the United Nations into his country at the same time\u00a0that he intended to use chemical weapons on his own\u00a0civilians.<\/span><\/span><\/span> That doesn’t make any sense. The allegations that he used chemical weapons while United Nations chemical weapons inspectors were actually in\u00a0his country looking for violations are just ridiculous.\u00a0The insurgents who are fighting the Assad regime are the most likely ones who used the chemical weapons (if indeed they\u00a0were actually used) to implicate Bashar al Assad. They are the ones who are desperately trying\u00a0to change the tide of the war.\u00a0 All the polls show that less than\u00a030% of Americans\u00a0approve of the President’s plan to\u00a0launch air strikes in\u00a0Syria. It violates international law. That’s the good news. Click here to view the results of\u00a0a Pew poll<\/a>.\u00a0 The bad news is that Congress doesn’t seem to care about what Americans think or want, or about another country’s territorial integrity, or about international law, and President Obama certainly doesn’t\u00a0care at all. The\u00a0only thing they care about is removing Bashar al Assad<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

If\u00a0Congress\u00a0listens to the American people and refuses to authorize\u00a0the use of military force in Syria then we still have a\u00a0representative government that at least barely reflects\u00a0the will of the American people. But if they don’t reject the President’s plan in the face of\u00a0such overwhelming\u00a0opposition than we no longer have a\u00a0government\u00a0in Washington that is even remotely capable of representing the American People. I<\/span>f they decide\u00a0to launch\u00a0air strikes against Syria while\u00a0legislators blather\u00a0on about the importance of not diminishing the\u00a0power and prestige of the Presidency like they did in this video<\/a>, than we no longer have a\u00a0government in Washington D.C. that honors the Constitution or\u00a0represents We the\u00a0People<\/em>. Instead what we have is an imperial Presidency and a\u00a0rubber-stamp Congress.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The potential level of force that they are talking about\u00a0using in Syria in response to the President’s trumped up and unsubstantiated charges against\u00a0Bashar al Assad has already morphed from merely launching a few cruise missiles\u00a0at\u00a0key military targets\u00a0to a full-fledged 90 day military air assault against his government in order to “degrade its capability to defend itself” from\u00a0a coalition of armed insurgent groups aligned against it. These insurgent groups include some of the most deadly players in the Middle East… ISIS, al Qaeda,\u00a0al Nusra,\u00a0and the Muslim Brotherhood.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Assad family<\/p><\/div>\n

This is what Bashar al Assad said in a rare December 7th television interview\u00a0on ABC News. “We dont kill our own people… No government in the world kills its own people, unless it’s led by a crazy person.”<\/em> Does this moderate leader of one of the world’s oldest Arab countries actually look or sound to you like a crazy man?\u00a0 Look at the pictures\u00a0of the Assad family and answer that question for yourself Why is\u00a0he fighting to stay alive and defend his country from\u00a0the radical Sharia loving Sunnis in ISIS and\u00a0al Qaeda who literally eat the heart\u00a0right out of their victims is perfectly obvious.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Even though\u00a0I am\u00a0a\u00a0strong supporter of Israel, and\u00a0I strongly disagree with\u00a0Syria’s foreign policy\u00a0with respect to\u00a0Israel’s Golan Heights, it is clear to me that\u00a0Bashar al Assad<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0is not the ruthless murderer of innocent civilians that the Obama Administration claims\u00a0he is.\u00a0 Rather he is a western educated ophthalmologist who is married to a British citizen of Syrian ancestry. He did not have to pose for the pictures\u00a0on this page. They are very easily\u00a0found on the internet. They are not a part of any propaganda campaign to\u00a0influence\u00a0western opinion.\u00a0On the contrary these pictures\u00a0are probably\u00a0not going to help him\u00a0with many Muslims in his own country. These pictures represent the Assad family as they really are for the whole world to see, including his own people.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But key Congressional leaders are already coming out in favor of\u00a0President Obama’s proposed\u00a0air strikes\u00a0on Syria including\u00a0Senate Majority Leader Harry\u00a0Reid (D.), the Speaker of the House John Boehner (R.), the Majority Leader of the House Eric Cantor (R.), the Minority leader of the House Nancy Pelosi (D.), and Senator\u00a0John McCain from Arizona. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

There is no fool like an old fool especially if that old fool is named John McCain.\u00a0Please\u00a0watch this video of a town hall meeting recently held\u00a0by\u00a0Senator McCain\u00a0<\/a>in which he answered a question by a constituent who has just lost\u00a0her relative in the Syrian Civil War.\u00a0\u00a0(This\u00a0link is also found under Corroborating Sources at the end of this article). The Senate Foreign Relations Committee has already given their blessings\u00a0to an air\u00a0strike\u00a0against Syria. Has the Obama Administration and all of our elected representatives in Congress\u00a0gone completely mad? If so then perhaps we need\u00a0to change\u00a0our own government, not\u00a0the\u00a0government of Syria.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The use of American force in Syria\u00a0will not accomplish any good thing. It will only make matters worse just like it did in Iraq.\u00a0The vote in Congress on the authority to use force in Syria is a vote on the legitimacy of our own\u00a0elected government in Washington D.C. It\u00a0will be\u00a0a crucial\u00a0barometer on whether or not our own\u00a0representative government\u00a0actually represents us or not.\u00a0If\u00a0our Congress\u00a0votes to attack Syria in the face of\u00a0overwhelming public opposition<\/a>\u00a0then\u00a0our government\u00a0does not represent us anymore. If that happens every American\u00a0has a\u00a0right to\u00a0resist, and even to ignore the legislation passed by\u00a0such a\u00a0political body and signed into law by a man who is not even\u00a0eligible under the Constitution\u00a0to be our President. He is not a Natural Born Citizen. Barack Obama wants to lead America\u00a0to attack another country\u00a0which poses no threat to us and without\u00a0the required\u00a0Congressional Declaration of War.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Does Bashar al Assad look like a homicidal maniac to you?<\/p><\/div>\n

If Congress ignores the will of the American people and authorizes any kind of\u00a0air or ground attacks in or on Syria\u00a0than what we\u00a0have in Washington\u00a0D.C. is an unrepresentative puppet government that is\u00a0being manipulated by interests which are not our own.\u00a0\u00a0Perhaps that is why our\u00a0government recently purchased\u00a0over a billion rounds of ammunition and\u00a0more than a thousand mine-resistant, ambush-protected vehicles\u00a0(MRAPs) to be used if necessary here at home. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

DATELINE: November 1, 2015 –\u00a0The Obama Administration has just decided to send fifty American soldiers to fight on the ground in Syria. Fifty American soldiers can’t possibly make a difference in the Syrian Civil War and they are only being used as a bargaining chip\u00a0with the Russians. They are\u00a0risking their lives to give the United States a bigger seat at the bargaining table. Once again American soldiers are being sent into harm’s way without a Congressional Declaration of War.<\/p>\n
