<\/a><\/p>\nRed Line in the Sand\u00a0in Syria<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n By Scott Rohter, May 2013<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Whether or not he meant to do it or not I do not know.\u00a0I cannot tell what President Obama meant to do, but I do know that his advisers and the career professionals in the Defense Department\u00a0 certainly do know that by giving\u00a0such an ultimatum to the combatants in the Syrian Civil War they <\/span><\/span><\/span>will only be setting the stage for Al Qaeda, Iran, or Hezbollah,\u00a0to violate the terms of\u00a0the ultimatum in order to drag us into their interminable conflict.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Now\u00a0we have\u00a0apparently done just that. There are allegations circulating back and forth that certain Syrians\u00a0who are hospitalized\u00a0in Turkey for wounds they\u00a0received in the conflict are the victims of some kind of a chemical weapons attack.\u00a0 Maybe former President Obama\u00a0really wanted us to get involved in the Syrian Civil War on the side of the Al Qaeda backed rebels.\u00a0 He took the side of the rebels in Libya. He took the side of the rebels in Egypt. Now apparently he wants to take the side of the rebels in Syria. The Syrian government does not need to use chemical weapons. They are winning the war and they already have the Russians\u00a0on their side.\u00a0They would not risk an American involvement that might tip the scales the other way and prolong the war.\u00a0\u00a0They would not use chemical weapons. It makes no sense.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Nevertheless\u00a0a “red line” is a fitting term to describe whatever kind of a line is drawn in the\u00a0Syrian Civil War because of the amount of people who have\u00a0already lost their lives in this\u00a0conflict . Any line drawn in the sand in Syria would literally be soaked in blood\u00a0because of all the people that have lost their lives\u00a0in that country. It is not our battle and we should not allow ourselves to\u00a0be\u00a0sucked into it. We should stay out of\u00a0Syria’s internal power struggle. It wasn\u2019t bad enough that we already got sucked into three wars in Libya, Iraq, and Afghanistan from which we are still trying to extricate ourselves, but\u00a0 by issuing\u00a0his ultimatum not to use chemical weapons in Syria to the combatants in Syria, President Obama has created the conditions by which we can be pulled into still another endless no-win military conflict.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\nNone of the combatants in the Syrian civil war\u00a0are America\u2019s friends or allies. No matter what side\u00a0prevails we have nothing to either gain or lose. We should learn to mind our own damn business for a change and not to use the American military unless it is in defense of our own\u00a0national security interests.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
