It follows a completely unconventional model\u00a0for delivering news and information to the people who use it.\u00a0 Not only is WePluribUS\u00a0an interactive platform like all of the other social networks, but it is also experimenting with the idea of being member owned.\u00a0Instead of merely broadcasting the news to thousands of couch potato consumers who are\u00a0only used to\u00a0passively watching their TV sets, or their computer monitors…\u00a0and instead of just sharing mainstream media posts between thousands of Facebook User<\/span> Timelines, WePluribUS\u00a0wants to give power to the people, and actually change the\u00a0existing paradigm.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Scott Rohter\u00a0encourages all members of WePluribUS to become more actively engaged in social media as the producers and developers of the news\u00a0 they read instead of just passively consuming\u00a0content created by other people.\u00a0To do this WePluribUS actively encourages\u00a0its members\u00a0to comment,\u00a0discuss, and share the news\u00a0that they read.\u00a0 Most importantly WePluribUS promotes the idea of ownership by offering its members an opportunity to buy their\u00a0network one day, and turn it into\u00a0the first of its kind social media co-operative.\u00a0It is a radically different\u00a0idea that will drastically change the paradigm\u00a0in broadcasting if it succeeds, but its success is far from certain. WePluribUS wants to empower the average consumer of\u00a0the news, who is just what\u00a0the old dinosaur media disdainfully calls its audience,\u00a0and what Facebook calls its users, to rise up and take control of the news.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Facebook admittedly has billions of users, but many of them are\u00a0just as phony as Fakebook itself. They are false personas, or“fakebook like profiles”.<\/em> All\u00a0WePluribUS members are real, and they either use their real name or their real photo in order to participate in the live discussion. Scott Rohter\u00a0believes that if you are not willing to use either your\u00a0real name or your real photo, than\u00a0what you have to say is not really worth listening to. So before you engage in a political discussion on WePluribUS, you first need to sign in and at least be willing to properly identify yourself. If your very first act\u00a0in\u00a0signing in is a deliberate lie, then what is the point\u00a0in having a discussion with you? <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n In order to keep faith with\u00a0our Founding Fathers who all signed their real names to the Declaration of Independence, WePluribUS requires that all of its members use their real names too… or at least their real photo.\u00a0 That is the WePluribUS reality standard.\u00a0\u00a0It\u00a0makes WePluribUS more credible than\u00a0other social networks, and it also\u00a0helps to eliminate trolls form our site.\u00a0Either people are willing to use\u00a0their real names or\u00a0their real photos, or they don’t get to participate in the discussion.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0WePluribUS wants to provide hundreds of thousands of fans of social media\u00a0with the power to\u00a0change their world, instead of just passively\u00a0listening to\u00a0the news and events\u00a0as they are reported\u00a0by others. WePluribUS founder Scott Rohter would like to empower millions of heretofore hopelessly discouraged and for all practical purposes disenfranchised voters to reclaim their lost country by employing a\u00a0rarely used, but well known strategy. This is the idea of ownership. But first they have to be willing to be real.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n A sense of ownership is what is missing in America today. Most Americans don\u2019t feel like they have anything to say about what goes on in their country. Not coincidentally most people don\u2019t own the most important things in their lives. They don\u2019t own their houses, their cars, or even\u00a0control their own families anymore, and there is a nagging feeling that\u00a0we don\u2019t own our country\u00a0either. We have mortgages and installment contracts to pay on our homes and cars.\u00a0We have children and spouses who are permanently glued to their television sets, or their i pads, or they are hardwired through some other electronic device to the debilitating influences of Hollywood, the mainstream media, or the music and entertainment industry. With ear buds in their ears and thumbs furiously texting back and forth, today\u2019s generation of young consumers is rapidly forsaking the real world for the virtual\u00a0one that is controlled and manipulated by the powers of this world.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Many of the problems in our country stem from the very nagging suspicion that we don\u2019t actually own anything of importance\u00a0anymore. The streets are not paved with gold. They are not even paved with\u00a0our paid off mortgages and installment contracts! That is why so many people are disengaged from everything. We don\u2019t own our houses, our cars, or even\u00a0our\u00a0 country. That\u2019s why so many Americans don\u2019t\u00a0bother to vote, or even register to vote. Why do you think that the two major political Parties have to work so hard every two years just to get out the vote?<\/strong> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n So it\u2019s nothing new when we hear that a gang of eight members of Congress euphemistically\u00a0referred to as\u00a0the “Gang of Rape”<\/em> has filed a Senate Bill at 3\u00a0A.M. in the morning to allow amnesty and a pathway to citizenship for twenty million more illegal aliens. It is what most Americans have come to expect from our dirty and corrupt little politicians in Washington, and the most un-transparent administration in our Nation\u2019s history. We don\u2019t feel\u00a0like we can do anything about it, which brings me to my next point. How can we fix the unfortunate status quo? How can we fix what\u2019s wrong with America today? Edmund Burke once said, “A great Nation and little minds go ill together.”<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Poor Blacks in Chicago who met\u00a0certain income requirements were given brand new government subsidized apartments with very affordable rents, but within a few short years all of these apartment buildings\u00a0were\u00a0transformed into a series of dilapidated old tenement slums because the tenants who were resettled there didn\u2019t actually own them, and they weren\u2019t allowed to own them. This is the best prima facia\u00a0evidence that I can give you\u00a0to illustrate the damaging consequences of creating a non-ownership society. The last of these apartment buildings was bulldozed\u00a0over in December 2010.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n We can fix what is wrong with America only by owning up to our problems, but the great difficulty is that too many\u00a0Americans don\u2019t feel like we actually own our country. If people don\u2019t feel like they own their country then why should they care whether the problems ever get fixed or not? It\u2019s the same way it was at Cabrini Green. There are\u00a0many who will just continue to\u00a0take advantage of the system, and use it for whatever they can. That\u2019s the way that Facebook is. Its users, investors,\u00a0and advertisers, are all just using each other.\u00a0Ownership is the key to solving our country\u2019s problems..\u00a0 Ownership is the key to restoring American values. And the first step in restoring our country is owning the media. We Pluribus\u00a0founder Scott Rohter wants\u00a0the members of WePluribUS to\u00a0become\u00a0more actively involved in the\u00a0entire process of disseminating\u00a0news\u00a0and information, as\u00a0the actual owners of their own\u00a0social network,\u00a0and as active participants in the news and information that they read and share everyday. To do this WePluribUS has first of all eliminated the term\u00a0“user” altogether from\u00a0its on-line vocabulary. Facebook admittedly has billions of users, but WePluribUS\u00a0has\u00a0members only, and the basic membership is free for\u00a0the first\u00a0year.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/a>Americans are right to feel hopeless. We are right to feel that we don\u2019t own our country anymore. We don\u2019t! We are right to feel that we have lost control of our families. We have!\u00a0 And Americans are\u00a0only\u00a0acknowledging the obvious truth when we pay our bills at the end of the month and we come face to face with the cold, hard reality that most of the cherished material possessions in our lives don\u2019t really belong to us either. They are financed and paid for with borrowed money. All that most Americans really own is a little piece of paper that obligates us to pay\u00a0back to a bank or\u00a0finance company for the privilege of using those things that we all enjoy in our daily\u00a0lives. And unlike the big banks\u2026 we little people better at least own up to our financial obligations.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/a>I believe that we can correct the dyslfunction in our society by promoting the idea of responsible ownership once again, and personal accountability. Let me illustrate this by giving you just one example of the power of ownership by conversely illustrating the power of\u00a0the lack of ownership. What happens when a lot of hopeless people don\u2019t feel like they are the actual owners of their world?\u00a0 During the Great Society\u00a0experiment of Lyndon Baines Johnson\u2019s Democrat administration, the Federal government constructed many high rise, low rent urban housing projects for poor mostly Black minority residents of\u00a0America’s inner cities. \u00a0In the shadow of the famous John Hancock Center, on the south side of Chicago they built such apartment buildings. They were called Cabrini Green, but they became better known as \u201cThe Projects\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/a>We can fix what is wrong with America today by owning up to our problems instead of just kicking them down the road like they do in Washington every year. We are now 17 trillion dollars in debt. Is there any point in letting that debt\u00a0get any bigger? Is there any point in letting our annual Federal Budget deficits pile even more debt on to\u00a0our existing National Debt and letting\u00a0that figure\u00a0grow to become 22 trillion dollars before we begin to deal with the problem?\u2026 Nevertheless that is exactly the current proposal\u00a0of the Obama Administration. The National Debt will almost certainly rise to more than 22 trillion dollars before it\u00a0even begins to go down. That is what we are told. Is that taking ownership of the problem?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
