A Christian Dilemma over Oregon’s Taxpayer Funding of Abortion and its Ongoing Status as a Sanctuary State<\/strong><\/h1>\n

In the wake of the heartbreaking failure of Oregon Ballot Measures 105 and\u00a0106 what\u00a0should\u00a0concerned Christians\u00a0do about\u00a0Oregon’s taxpayer funding of abortion and its ongoing status as a sanctuary State?<\/p>\n

If you are a child of God then your first loyalty is to God. Your next loyalty is to your family, and\u00a0then\u00a0to your country. The State of Oregon doesn\u2019t even make the short list\u2026<\/p>\n

Whenever there is a conflict between God\u2019s law and man\u2019s laws or between a State law and a Federal law, the choice is\u00a0clear. Article VI Clause 2 of the United States Constitution is referred to as the Supremacy Clause. It\u00a0says that no State law can\u00a0take precedent over\u00a0the United States Constitution. To a lesser extent\u00a0this\u00a0also applies to any law passed by Congress, but more importantly there is a supreme\u00a0authority higher than\u00a0Congress and even higher than the United States\u00a0Constitution which expressly prohibits murder.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It may not\u00a0be easy\u00a0to do the right thing sometimes, but\u00a0the choice is\u00a0clear. The State of Oregon has\u00a0overstepped its authority in requiring people of faith to pay for somebody else’s\u00a0abortion.\u00a0It has crossed the line\u00a0by using\u00a0taxpayer funds to pay for State sanctioned murder.\u00a0Christians and other people of faith\u00a0who pay taxes have\u00a0a tough\u00a0choice to make.\u00a0If ungodly women have the choice to\u00a0terminate their pregnancies\u00a0and murder their\u00a0own unborn\u00a0babies,\u00a0then Christians\u00a0 and other people of faith\u00a0can\u00a0have the choice not to have to pay for it. The solution is\u00a0not to use public funds to pay for abortion, but Measure 106 failed. For now it is a choice that we\u00a0all have to make\u00a0without the law on our side,\u00a0but we have a HIGHER AUTHORITY on our side and someday there will be a court decision that will\u00a0strike down\u00a0Oregon’s public funding of abortion. Until\u00a0then\u00a0our choice should be\u00a0civil disobedience.<\/p>\n

If our tax dollars are being used to\u00a0pay for\u00a0abortions\u00a0then we are being compelled to\u00a0violate our religious beliefs.\u00a0I never thought about what\u00a0this really means, but\u00a0now I realize that it is not just all of those other people’s babies which are at stake.\u00a0Our own religious freedom is at stake.\u00a0 Public funding of abortion in Oregon must not\u00a0be allowed to continue.\u00a0People of faith\u00a0cannot be forced to become unwilling accomplices to\u00a0what is tantamount to state sanctioned murder. Our First Amendment rights are at stake. Our ability to exercise our religious freedom is at stake. Under the Constitution we cannot be required to do something that violates our religious beliefs, Kate Brown notwithstanding.<\/p>\n

The State of Oregon cannot turn wrong into right or right into wrong. It\u00a0can’t forgive our sins. The evidence of a Christian\u00a0life is a desire to do God\u2019s will, and it is the will of God that none should perish, especially\u00a0little children. Jesus loved the little children. He said, “Suffer the little children to come unto me for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven.” The will of God never includes\u00a0murdering unborn babies.<\/p>\n

Governor Brown, the State of Oregon, the Democrat Party, and all the atheists in Portland and Eugene\u00a0 cannot compel\u00a0us to violate our religious beliefs. It’s time for civil disobedience on a massive scale. No amount of twisted, demonic\u00a0 logic from the\u00a0Left can justify taxpayer funding of abortion.<\/p>\n

If you are a Christian and you don’t work for yourself or if your taxes are already taken out of your paycheck before you ever see it then you might not be able to do anything about this dilemma\u2026 but if you work for yourself\u00a0 or if you are retired then you have the final say on if and\u00a0how much money you send to Salem. Ask yourself\u00a0a question. Is it\u00a0right to lie in order to\u00a0prevent the murder of unborn babies?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Was it okay for Germans to lie to\u00a0the German authorities in order to save millions of Jews from the gas chamber?\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ungodly women\u00a0who want the choice to abort their pregnancies and murder their own babies have the right to do it in Oregon. The law is on their side, but\u00a0Christians are also entitled to choice .. We have the right to choose not to pay for it. I am not paying for\u00a0other people to murder their babies.<\/p>\n

As far as Oregon’s ongoing status as\u00a0a\u00a0sanctuary State\u00a0police officers regardless of whether they work for a city, a county or the State should continue to assist the federal authorities in finding and arresting people who don\u2019t belong in our country. The last time I checked Oregon was still in our country. It doesn\u2019t require any\u00a0expenditure of State money\u00a0 as Measure 105 falsely claimed. It doesn\u2019t even cost a dime for a police officer to take out his cell phone and dial ICE. All police officers\u00a0have a\u00a0responsibility to enforce our country\u2019s laws.<\/p>\n
