Driver's Card Dilemna
Should We Give Oregon Driver’s Licenses to Illegal Aliens?
-By Scott Rohter, April 2011 Updated January 2014
Giving Oregon driver’s licenses or driver's cards to illegal aliens after they come here illegally is nothing less than telling them that coming to Oregon illegally is okay. It is just the kind of encouragement they need to keep coming here illegally and keep breaking our laws. We don’t need to make it easier or more convenient for people to break our laws, do we? We need to make it harder.
I don't have anything against Mexicans. Most of the Mexicans that come here are not bad people, but along with the good people who come here illegally also come the drug dealers and the criminals that corrupt our children and rape little girls. Most illegal aliens I meet appear to be good, hard-working people, but we are not really helping them by letting them come here illegally. We are actually taking advantage of them. We are enabling them, and some Americans are even getting rich at their expense. We are also perpetuating an unhealthy,
co-dependent relationship that exists between our two countries. If we really wanted to help these poor indigenous Mexicans who are looking for work then we would encourage them to stay home and fix what is wrong with their own country.
Mexico is a beautiful country. It is rich in natural resources and productive soil. It is blessed with a wonderful climate and hard-working people, but it is a hell-hole and a drug state on our southern border and it is never going to get any better as long as Mexicans keep leaving their country in the millions and migrating north to the United States to find safety and jobs. They need to create jobs in their own country besides growing dope and smuggling illegal drugs, and they need to make their streets safe for their own people so they don't have to live in fear of having their heads lopped off by the next drug lord that comes along. They need to stay home and repair their broken country and we need to encourage them to do that. Otherwise we will continue to have an unhealthy, co-dependent relationship with our smaller neighbor to the south, and a hell-hole of a drug state located on our southern border.
