Should We Give Oregon Driver’s Licenses to Illegal Aliens?
-By Scott Rohter, April 2011
Senate Bill 845
Giving Oregon driver’s licenses to illegal aliens after they come here illegally is nothing less than telling them that coming to Oregon illegally in the first place is OK. It is the defacto encouragement they need to continue to break our laws. We don’t need to make it easier or more convenient for people to come here illegally. We need to make it harder.
As a rule I like Mexicans. Most of the Mexicans that come here are not bad people, but along with the good people come the drug dealers and the criminals that corrupt our children, and rape our young girls. Most illegal aliens appear to be good, hard-working people, but we are not really helping them by letting them come here illegally, are we? We are actually taking advantage of them. We are enabling them, while some of us are actually enriching ourselves at their expense. We are also perpetuating an unhealthy, co-dependent relationship that exists between our two countries. If we really wanted to help poor Mexicans, then we would encourage them to stay home and fix what is wrong with their own country.
Mexico is a beautiful country. It is rich in natural resources and productive soil, and blessed with a wonderful climate and hard-working people, but it is a hell-hole and a drug state on our southern border, and it is never going to get any better if Mexicans keep leaving their country in the millions and migrating north to the United States to find safety and jobs. They need to create jobs in their own country, besides growing dope and selling illegal drugs. And they need to make their streets safe for their own people so they don't have to live in fear of having their heads cut off by the next drug lord to come along. They need to stay home and repair their own broken country, and we need to encourage them to do that. Otherwise we will continue to have an unhealthy, co-dependent relationship with our smaller neighbor to the south, and a hell-hole of a drug state located on our southern border.
