A General Consensus Among Republicans.  Is There Any?
They Have Got to Be Kidding Me… Well Apparently They Aren’t!
-by Scott Rohter, December 2011

Since January 2009, there has been a general consensus among Republicans, whether we are conservatives or moderates, that we must unite in order to defeat the greater evil of Barack Obama and his brand of Democrat partisan politics. We must defeat their progressive agenda in 2012, or there will be nothing left of our country to save and put back together again!  Like the story of Humpty Dumpty, our country has had a great fall, and all the king's horses and all the king's men can't seem to put our country back together again. That includes some of talk radio’s most popular conservative talkers. They were all sounding like they were real conservatives back in 2009 and 2010, even Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity!  New talkers were coming forward on the national stage, like Roger Hedgecock, Laura Ingraham, Doug Urbanski, and Mark Levin, and they all sounded even better than their predecessors.

When I first began listening to this next generation of talkers, I was very enthusiastic about all of them.  However, I can never quite forgive Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity, for their unwavering support during the eight years of the Bush Administration for almost everything that George W. Bush did!  Every conservatives must know by now that George W. Bush (Bush 43) was not a conservative!  He was a moderate to progressive member of the Republican Establishment, as his father was before him.  Bush 43’s campaign manager for both of his elections, in 2000 and 2004, was Karl Rove, who is now standing by his man Mitt Romney, if that tells you anything.  The National Security Advisor, and Secretary of State for George W. Bush was Condoleezza Rice.  She was a member of the CFR.  Colin Powell was the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and also later Secretary of State under George W. Bush.  He was also a member of the CFR.  Vice President Dick Cheney was a member of the CFR too.  Bob Gates, John Abizaid, David Petraeus, Stanley McChrystal, and Eric Shinseki are all high-ranking members of the U.S. Military, and held positions of authority in the Defense Department during the Bush Administration.  They are all members of the Council on Foreign Relations, as well as Paul Wolfowitz, who served as the Deputy Secretary of Defense.  This is the same group that came to be known as the Neo-cons, but more accurately they were progressives, whose political ideology stems from their membership in the Council on Foreign Relations!

There was so much that George W. Bush did during those eight years when he was President that wasn’t conservative at all.  For instance, the nomination of Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court, which had to be withdrawn, the Patriot Act, and the Wall Street bailouts!  These were among the worst things that George Bush did.  There were also the sales and attempted sales of strategic American military assets to potentially hostile foreign investors. But absolutely , without a doubt, the dumbest policy of the Bush Administration was to back the McCain-Kennedy Amnesty Bill for illegal aliens!  If you are ever tempted to look back upon the Bush years with fondness, just remember some of his bonehead, Neanderthal policies, and that should cure you of whatever ails you!  After Obama was elected in 2008, I had hoped that the progressive Republicans would accept the fact that the reason we lost the 2008 election was because they abandoned their conservative base, and our conservative principles, but unfortunately that is not the conclusion they have drawn.  Quite the contrary, they still want to shove another phony conservative RINO up our, excuse me, I mean down our throats again, much like they did with John McCain in 2008!  It’s obvious that they have already selected either Mitt Romney or Newt Gingrich to be our Party’s nominee in 2012.  I’m not going to take it!  Are you?

In 2009 when the TEA Party began to rise up, I thought that conservatives would put the fear of God back into the progressive Establishment of the Republican Party, or at least put the fear of losing another election into them!  But apparently I was wrong on both counts.  Freedom works, and Americans for Prosperity began to rise up alongside of the TEA Party, and they began to infiltrate the conservative movement and provide some organizational expertise, and a framework for the organic uprising.  We all thought that this was a good thing, and in some respects it still is, but my first suspicion that something wasn’t quite right was when the AFP began to promote Herman Cain as the TEA Party favorite, instead of the logical choice, Michele Bachmann!  She organized the first mass outpouring of opposition to the President’s Healthcare Bill even before it became a law.  Then she went on to organize the Congressional TEA Party Caucus, to give conservative activists a voice on Capitol Hill!  She earned and deserved the endorsement of both Americans for Prosperity, and Freedom Works, but she got neither!  All she got was lip service, and bupkis!  My next clue came when so-called conservative author and pundit, Ann Coulter, began promoting Governor Chris Christie, the liberal Republican from New Jersey, as a potential candidate in the Republican Primary.  He didn’t allow New Jersey to join the 26 other states, who are suing the Federal Government over Obama Care!  Now that he decided not to join the fray, Ann Coulter is promoting another one of her favorite liberals, Mitt Romney.  Of course her face and thoughts are all over the media now, both on Fox News, and talk radio, promoting first Governor Christy, and now Governor Romney.  Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity then began re-circulating that tired old war-horse, Newt Gingrich.  Thirty years after he first got elected he is now a fat, old war-horse, that should be put out to pasture, but instead, everywhere you look, Newt Gingrich’s face and words are all over the media too!  Hannity and Limbaugh and Fox News have kept his name and face alive until he could make his comeback, by capitalizing on some other candidate’s misfortune.  Then Sarah Palin got hired by Fox News, effectively taking her out of the running for 2012.  Money can be a very big temptation you know!  I don’t blame her one bit for taking the job. She deserves every bit of financial success she can get, for what she has had to put up with for the past three years!  Back in 2010 there was a life-size, cardboard cutout statue of Newt Gingrich at my local, Republican Party headquarters.  I remember thinking, “What the heck is that doing there?”  They Have Got to Be Kidding Me… Well Apparently They Aren’t!
