Innocent Victims of a Government Vendetta
By Scott Michael Rohter, May 2017
They have been in jail for almost a year and a half. Every day for the last month they have spent in solitary confinement, twenty-three hours and forty-five minutes a day, locked up in a small cell, each man by himself at a Federal Correctional Center in Southern Nevada. They are totally innocent victims of a government vendetta. Imprisoned without bail, they have been denied their constitutional rights by a Justice Department that doesn’t honor the Constitution, and a government that holds itself exempt from popular criticism.
Ammon and Ryan Bundy are political prisoners in a country that is becoming more and more un-recognizable with each passing day. Several months ago Ryan Bundy was severely beaten in a Portland, Oregon jail by prison guards. Last week his younger brother Ammon was tortured and beaten to within an inch of his life by prison guards at the Southern Detention Center in Pahrump, Nevada. After that he was stripped naked, tightly handcuffed with his hands behind his back and locked up in a three foot wide shower stall where they forced him spend the night without any heat. For over 13 hours he was made to endure this kind of inhumane treatment by the government of a country that he truly loves and still believes in. He was nearly beaten to death by prison guards who are not fit to lace his boots more less to work there.
On top of this kind of deliberate and systematic physical abuse, the Bundy family has been forced to incur over a half a million dollars in legal bills and their courtroom battles are still far from being over. All of this has happened to them because they dared to believe in the United States Constitution. They dared to believe that the world’s “greatest democracy” could actually be held accountable by the people. They unmasked the truth about what is actually going on in America, and they clearly pointed out for the whole world to see that the United States government isn’t following the Constitution anymore. In other words they dared to tell the King that he didn’t have any clothes on.
It wasn’t sufficient for the government to lock up these two brave young men in the prime of their life and keep them away from their wives and children for so long. The federal government has also incarcerated their 71 year old father, Cliven Bundy who is the principle target of the government’s ongoing vendetta, as well as two of their other brothers, Mel and David.
Cliven, Mel, and David Bundy have each been locked up for more than a year. With the four brothers and their elderly father all behind bars now, there are just two men left in the Bundy family who are not in jail… two men who have not been the target of this government vendetta who have been allowed to remain free, at least until now. All of the Bundy women… the wives and the daughters, the mothers and the grandmothers have all been left to fend for themselves… to raise their children, to run their ranch, and to try to manage all of their personal and family affairs.
The Bundys are real American patriots and heroes… every, single, one of them… the men and the women, the mothers and the daughters, the fathers and the sons. They have been the target of overly ambitious, career minded federal prosecutors who are hell bent on destroying them. This government vendetta now involves the Administrations of two American Presidents, one a Democrat and the other a Republican. It is a bi-partisan, high stakes, personal and political drama that has real life and death implications for every one of the people accused, and it has been allowed to play itself out in federal court without any apparent intervention from either American President.
The five Bundy men are political prisoners of conscience in a country that is increasingly being ruled by men and women without any conscience. The next chapter in their family’s heroic saga will be written in Federal District Court in Las Vegas, Nevada sometime later this year or early next year when the United States government will put the family of rancher Cliven Bundy on trial once again for simply refusing to lay down, and let the federal government roll over them.
