President in Name Only

From Détente with the Soviet Union under Reagan and Gorbachev to Open Confrontation with Russia over Ukraine and Syria – Washington’s Russia Policy under Donald Trump is the same as it was under Barack Obama.

American foreign policy toward Russia has gone from good, to bad, to worse. It has gone from the much welcomed détente under Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to a very unwise and reckless foreign policy of open confrontation with Russia over Ukraine. Under Barack Obama we keep poking a stick at the Russian bear…

Making a Big Deal about North Korea’s Little Dictator

The man who wrote The Art of the Deal, America’s 45th President Donald J. Trump is making a big deal right now about North Korea’s little dictator. Who is Using Chemical Weapons in Syria and Why

Posted by Scott Rohter on Saturday, April 8, 2017

We are told to believe that Bashar al Assad is using chemical weapons against his own people. There is something obviously wrong about that statement. The government of Syria is more than just one man. It is more than just Bashar al Assad. Why is our government and the American media making this an attack against one man. Why are we making it about one man when we are really being asked to believe that the government of Syria is using chemical weapons against its own people? …

Why John McCain is Determined to Destroy the Legacy of America’s 40th President

Posted by Scott Rohter on Tuesday, December 27, 2016

It all goes back to something that President Dwight Eisenhower mentioned in his Farewell Address to the Nation. He warned us about the dangers of the “Military Industrial Complex”. Eisenhower used this phrase to describe the dangers posed by our industrial and manufacturing sectors as a result of the massive military buildup we had just gone through in order to defeat NAZI Germany and Japan during World War II. John McCain is an old cold war veteran whose political views were shaped in an era of confrontation between nuclear superpowers. Everything is black and white to him. He sees everything in terms of good and evil. America is good and Russia is evil. That’s how he sees the world. That’s how he will always see the world…

In case you don’t already know it there are actually two trials going on at the same time both involving the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. One trial is about the occupation of the Refuge which lasted for 41 days and resulted in one death and at least fourteen persons charged with conspiracy. The other trial concerns the occupation of 700 million acres of land in twelve States by the Federal Government. This occupation has been going on for over a century. In some cases it has been going on ever since the War Between the States ended. This occupation involves 25 % of the land in the entire United States…

British Vote to leave the E.U. is Good News for Europeans, but Bad News for the Architects of the New World Order

Posted by Scott Rohter on Sunday, June 26, 2016

The British vote to leave the European Union is good news for Europeans, and it is good news for Americans too. It was not a vote against the European Union as much as it was a vote in favor of retaining British national sovereignty. It was the acknowledgement that the people of the U.K. want to be governed by their own elected leaders rather than by the faceless bureaucrats of the European Union or by the un-elected members of the European Parliament. It proves that the British people do not want to surrender their independence and that people everywhere want more control over their lives, not less control…

What Explains the Current Volatility in the Oil and Gas Markets? Why is the Price of Gasoline Going Back Up Again?

Now in a matter of only two short weeks the price of gasoline has risen back up to almost three dollars a gallon again. One Hundred Years from Teddy Roosevelt to Barack Obama

That’s what we have been trying to do in the Middle East in Iraq and Afghanistan for the past thirteen years. For over a decade we have been trying to bomb the Middle East into democracy, but it hasn’t worked out very well. It didn’t work too well in Libya and it certainly didn’t work out very well in Iraq. Hopefully Afghanistan will turn out to be another story, but now we are starting to bomb Syria and Iraq all over again. It is Shock and Awe revisited. My only question is this… Are we really convincing Muslims in the Middle East and around the world to love democracy or to hate the democracy that enables us to do this to them?

Don’t Crimea River Over Ukraine – Crimea Referendum in Former Soviet Republic Favors Re-unification with Russia

Posted by Scott Rohter on Wednesday, March 19, 2014

It all started with a little lie, but that was so long ago that it really doesn’t matter… or does it? What matters of course in Ukraine today is that the residents of Crimea just held a public referendum on the question of whether or not they want to become a part of Russia again after a popular uprising in Kiev overthrew their democratically elected government and left most Crimeans feeling like they were out in the cold. What is the connection between the popular Orange Revolution in Ukraine and the fracking revolution right here in America? Well the result of the referendum in Crimea was that about ninety five percent of the people who cast their ballots in the hastily called special election said that they want Crimea to become a part of Russia again. Of course that doesn’t seem to matter to the people of Ukraine, nor to the European Union, nor to the United States of America which only wants to capitalize on the political turmoil and seize the opportunity to export American natural gas derived from fracking to Europe in order to increase demand and drive up prices here at home…

This comes only after they were repeatedly asked over the past month to disband, and told to return these parts of the city to normal civilian control.
